There are firmware upgrades available for both the original Gem-n-Eye and the Gem-n-Eye II. Check the About Gem-n-Eye menu on your instrument screen to determine both your model of Gem-n-Eye and your existing Firmware version.

For the original Gem-n-Eye, which includes Serial Numbers 001 to 653, if your Firmware Version is 30 to 41, we recommend that you upgrade to Firmware Version 43, which:

Adds effortless, push-button Calibration Adjustment for users who want to fine tune measurements.

For the Gem-n-Eye II, which includes Serial Numbers 655 or later, if your Firmware Version is 2.0 to 2.1, we recommend that you upgrade to Firmware Version 2.2, which:

Fixed a bug where Corundum was not measuring accurately in every instance.

Your machine was designed in advance to easily accommodate firmware updates through the USB port at the right rear of the instrument. However, we do not yet have upgrades downloadable from our web site, so please return your Gem-n-Eye to Mineralab for the upgrade, to this address:

Send only the Gem-n-Eye, with battery, and its carrying case. Be sure to indicate your name and address on the return. We will update the firmware, re-calibrate the unit, and return the machine to you.
