Our
Review:
This is a very readable handbook on gemstones, organized well
with excellent photos, combined with informative narrative and essential data,
not to mention coverage on some rarer gemstones as well. While
Schumann's Gemstones of the World is still the standard, this Smithsonian
handbook is recommended for beginners as well as those who shy away from the
more technical approach in favor of user-friendliness.
